Self-Portrait(2021)
I lost my grandmother on December of 2020. Due to social distancing I could not say goodbye to her in person. I recalled my last word.
"I will see you again soon."
Then I could not see her again, and visit her home for funeral and to burn her clothes. She passed away on winter, and when I visit her home and garden spring flowers were ready to bloom.
She used to say that she has cherry blossoms and peony for me on her garden. With that thought, I realize the true absence. From now on, I will see all the spring flowers for me without the person who planted them for me.
I took self-portrait on my grandmother's empty room, her frozen pond and garden with spring flowers with my condolence to all the spring we spent together.
